Sites and monuments
The sites and monuments section formally Antiquities Department is responsible for conserving and developing the cultural sites and monuments of Uganda.  The main function of the section is to research, update National Heritage data Inventory, inspect and plan for development of the sites and monuments. Of the 800 cultural sites recorded, 203 are inventoried into the National Data base system. The Department of Museums and Monuments is in dialogue with the communities on ways of utilizing the cultural sites resources sustainably so as to create positive benefits to the vulnerable communities.
